A very rare and unusual weight. The weight is hollow blown in green glass, with victorian images and notes of affection decoupage to the inner surface, painted in gold, and filled with white plaster. Very few examples of this design are known. In all recorded cases it was attributed to Boston & Sandwich however the green glass is more reasonably attributed to an english maker. See Paperweight no. 163 plate 73 Glass Paperweights of the Bergstrom Mahler (1989) & Figure 1.10, pg. 10, The Art of the Paperweight - Boston & Sandwich and New England Glass Companies (1995). It is worth noting that this weight is not included in the 2017 edition of The Art of the Paperweight - Boston & Sandwich.
