After graduating as a glassblower in 1999 from l’école d’Yseure in central France at the age of 17, Mickael worked for Saint-Louis Crystal. At Saint-Louis he worked as a glass blower and in manufacture of colored glass. After 4 years in this position, Mickael became the assistant to the then, new chief paperweight artist and paperweight designer Xavier Zimmerman, where he learned how to make millefiori and learned millefiori techniques.

In 2006, he went to work for himself, while studying both artistic and scientific glassblowing for an additional 3 years. In 2010, he moved to the Island of Reunion where he fulfilled his dream of opening his own studio. In 2015, inspired by the his friends Richard Loesel(another Saint-Louis paperweight artist) and Xavier Zimmerman, he again, began making paperweights.

He is inspired by the works of Chris Buzzini and Paul Stankard and his work is heavily influenced by the tropical climate of Reunion. Most recently, he entered his work into the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France competition, which celebrates the best French craftsmen in their respective fields. These pieces (seen here) represent some of Mickael’s finest and most imaginative work.
