Many of Harolds early work was inspired by classical era french paperweights. In this case he found inspiration in the famed Pantin "Bird in the nest" paperweight which was fabled to be the first paperweight of PCA founder and president Paul Jokelson. It features a mother bird watching over her nest with three eggs perched on a leafy branch and set over a translucent pink ground.
