In 2015 Richard was awarded with the prestigious French honor of Meilleur Ouvrier de France. As a former Saint-Louis artisan this distinction is well deserved. He has steadily grown a reputation for his colorful floral flamework, and in particular, for his detailed hovering butterflies. The example found here is a unique custom order piece featuring a large complex black dahlia with several rows of tiny petals and an outer row of sepals. Hovering over the flower is a realistic monarch butterfly with detailed white spots and black veined wings. It is easy to see why so many collectors have fallen for Richards unique style and colorful butterflies.
