One of the most sought after of all paperweights - the illusive Bacchus. Estimates are that fewer than 300 or 400 Bacchus weights were ever made. Most are large, in the 3-4 inch diameter range. Bacchus canes tend to be one the softer hue though the factories sense of color was always spot on, often subscribing to the "less  is more" motto. This example contains a large complex closepack center cane surrounded by a row of crimson sheathed cogs, followed by a row of incredibly complex pastel toned closepack millefiori, a row of collared cogs, and cupped by blue and white colored staves. The staves are pulled close to the center of the base, as is characteristic of Bacchus,  forming a near perfect circle where the staves terminate at the center. All in all a very handsome example surely to be a prize to cherish.
