Curiosity was the driving force behind the conception of these optical oddities Gary calls Holoscopes. Ringing in the millennium, the first Holoscope Gary made was the 12 sided dodecahedron in late 1999. These geometric shapes are called polyhedrons. Gary wondered what the effect would be to line the hollow interior of a polyhedron with mirror. Truncating the vertices would allow light to enter the chamber as well as view the reflective optics inside. After experimenting with different polyhedrons, it was obvious that each one had its own unique signature pattern. In essence, this is a science in the disguise of an art form. This has been a study of the reflective interiors of the Platonic Solids, several Archimedean Solids, and some of Gary's own innovations and modifications relating to this exploration in geometry.

Each Holoscope is constructed of high quality stained glass for the exterior and front surface mirror for the interior. All of the glass and mirror is hand cut to exact specifications. Much precision is required in all of the processes involved. The final process is grouting and applied with two coats of sealer and finish to the grout with a fine brush.
