Rare 1953 Saint Louis Art Glass Paperweight Complex Millefiori Piedouche

Rough Dimensions: 3” diameter & 2-5/8” tall

Makers Mark: Signature date cane embedded in the pattern, “SL1953”.

Provenance: A private American collection.

Condition: One tiny flea bite to the upper dome. At the top of the dome there is a slight orange peal texture missed during the block work. Also there is a dark streak near the surface which could be mistaken for a surface annealing fracture but under close inspection it is decidedly a streak of dark pigment right at the surface which occurred during production which could be professionally resurfaced. Minimal shelf wear to the concave polished base. Please see photos and let us know if you need any additional assistance.

A very rare early modern peidouche with seven rows of concentric complex canes around a large center cane set on a stout white latticino pedestal with cords of red & white latticino around the base and between the seem of the pedestal and upper dome. Saint Louis paperweights from the 1950’s are very rare and only a handful of piedouches are known to exist; each one unique.
