Mayauel is a master in the torchwork technique using canes and colored rods applied to the surface of molten glass in a painterly fashion using a torch, picks, tweezers and other tools. The torchwork can be applied to the surface or in a single layer under clear glass. More complex examples are built up in multiple layers of clear crystal and torchwork details - creating a compound and dimensional scene. This particular example was built up in three or four layers effectively creating up a complex and thriving underwater world featuring jellyfish, colorful coral, kelp, fish and crustaceans.  The work is covered in a dichroic backed black overly and when displayed on light box(not included) the complexity and and depth glows against the dichroic back.
