Between the years 2017-2020 I served the paperweight community by promoting paperweights and publishing content as the Facebook Administrator for the national PCA. Today, I continue to serve the PCA as the Dealer Representative and member of the Board of Directors, and a contributing author to the Annual Bulletin. Regionally, I am President of the Southern California Paperweight Collectors Association where I serve various functions including but not limited to newsletter editor and web master.
As a dealer I think of myself as a guide for those on their own collecting journey. Every collector is unique, each having their own preferences and are at different points in their journey. As a guide the most important part of my job is to educate and offer advise. I enjoy showing at art & antique shows, and at regional paperweight collectors groups - swapping stories with seasoned collectors and sharing with new comers. Ultimately, I strive to create lifelong relationships by offering the finest paperweights I can find suited for each step along every collectors journey.
The artists who specialize in these techniques are few. There are perhaps fewer than twenty active living artists who are capable of producing fine quality encapsulated sculpture. It is a rare, difficult and an unforgiving art form. It is an art which truly takes a lifetime to master. Few possess the artistic virtues, technical skill, and perseverance it requires.
The works offered here date from the mid 1800s up to the present day represent the very finest this art form has to offer.
The earliest works were true utilitarian objects but were still very precious and indeed valuable objects. The finest examples would have been collected, bought and sold much like the contemporary art of today. Contemporary paperweight artists have refined the craft and elevated it to fine art - achieving realism and detail never thought possible.
Should you have any questions while perusing the offerings found here please don't hesitate to ask. Enjoy!
